Hi Lori
This is always an interesting topic but the bare below has been in the NHS for many years with no concerns. I think the requirements of your policy need to be spelt out at the very beginning in the interview stage and full executive support is required. I have had conversations with employees and there is no concern about the requirements. I would think the current COVID situation and the emphasis on hand hygiene is more than enough to gain that support from the executive to ensure compliance with policy.I spoke with a religious leader at the local mosque (grand mufti I think he was called) and he is fully supportive of the policy and indicated that if it is required for the safety of patients and staff then best practice policy should be adhered to. He advised that in some muslim countries it is law but in Australia it is not and more a cultural requirement. I am happy to stand corrected and welcome other feedback.
