Hello IPC colleagues,
I received a question from a registered nurse that works in a medical centre on an industrial site. They are being asked to have hand soap for hand washing available at the kitchen sink which is located in the middle of the medical centre. There are plenty of wash stations/bathrooms outside of the kitchen. The nurse is concerned that the kitchen sink will be used by staff to perform hand hygiene coming directly from the clinical areas.
Is anyone aware of any guidance or protocols related to using a kitchen sink for hand washing (as a hand basin) in a shared workplace that I can direct this nurse to?
Thank you so much!
Kindest regards,
Nikki Grae
