    Good morning IPC champions!

I would value your feedback on PFRs in your RACFs at the moment. I am recommending we return to surgical masks due to reduced transmission and as we are in ‘between’ outbreaks and have no positive cases or exposures, I am advising that surgical masks can be used and this will be reviewed in December when there is another predicted wave coming our way.

I am wondering what other facilities are doing? I am in Qld.

    Kind regards,

    Good Morning Chris,

We have only last week stepped down our N95 to Surgical masks in areas where there are not known or suspected COVID positive patients.
Our Emergency department staff continue to wear N95 mask. This decision was guided by the Queensland Health website Infection prevention and control guidance (including PPE advice) | COVID-19 | Queensland Health

    Hope that helps 🙂
    Kind Regards,

    Hi Christine
I work in a rural 95 bed facility and at present we are in surgical masks.
If we were to have a pos case or someone showing respiratory symptoms we
would go back to isolate and full ppe including N95 for that person or
section. We have also just relaxed visiting as well which I am hesitant
about due to the high number of cases in the community.
