Hi Vanessa,
As part of our processes with our dedicated sanitisation staff for the Aged Care and Healthcare groups we work with, we do not allow them to carry drink bottles or drink water from a bottle during shift. We have increased break times to allow staff to drink in dedicated areas (tea rooms, outside etc).
We have applied this across the board, even in completely green sites (no COVID residents) to mitigate any cross contamination and risk to the residents and staff.
I hope this helps – feel free to give me a call if you wish to discuss or if you need some assistance setting up your infection control protocols.
Warmest Regards,

Dear All
Wondering if there are any guidelines re: staff who are working in full PPE and having a drink bottle (? Type) on hand to sip whilst working in a clinical (residential) care setting.
I am aware of the need for increased breaks whilst wearing PPE, but is there any guidance about drinking from a drink bottle (and ? a specific type) whilst on shift and running around or not to drink?
What about when there is no outbreak and staff are not wearing PPE?
Many thanks for your feedback.
