World Immunisation Week 2026

World Immunisation Week 2026 – 24 to 30 April

Held each year in the last week of April, World Immunisation Week celebrates the life-saving impact of vaccines and encourages people of all ages to protect themselves and their communities.

Over the past 50 years, vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives — around 6 every minute — thanks to the everyday decisions of parents, families, and health workers choosing to vaccinate. Those choices have driven a 40% improvement in infant survival and spared tens of millions of children from lifelong disability.

This year’s theme, “For every generation, vaccines work”, reflects how immunisation has safely protected people across generations and continues to shape a healthier future.

This year, the campaign aims to:

  • Show how immunisation has effectively shielded generations from deadly diseases
  • Support health workers in having clear, compassionate conversations with hesitant families
  • Build public understanding of vaccine safety and the science behind it
  • Reinforce trust through transparency, innovation, and a shared commitment to equitable vaccine access

As we reach the halfway point of the global Immunisation Agenda 2030, now is the time to act — sharing accurate information and strengthening confidence in vaccines so families can make informed, life-saving choices for generations to come.

With Australia’s record-breaking 2025 influenza season still fresh in mind, ACIPC is encouraging healthcare settings across Australasia to prepare early for winter 2026. Annual flu vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent serious complications — and this year, children aged 2–17 have an additional option with the introduction of the intranasal vaccine FluMist®. To support your organisation’s flu vaccine effort, we’ve developed a downloadable poster for workplace display, along with further resources and recommended reading — all available below: https://www.acipc.org.au/influenza-vaccination-2026/
