ACIPC is excited to announce that we are holding a Lunch and Learn webinar on Friday 29 August at 1pm AEST.

Topic: Team competition boosts regional and rural hand hygiene and awareness of appropriate glove use

During the month of May, Murrumbidgee Local health district promoted World Hand Hygiene Day, through a competition aimed at getting all HealthCare workers involved in the World Hand Hygiene Day 5th May, by allowing them all May, to participate in this competition and allow for work and staffing. The coemption was a huge success and staff are looking at ways of promoting their work across Australia and New Zealand including the posters and the activities they used for their promotion. An additional component that was promoted was the importance of correct glove use and sustainability within the concept of correct hand hygiene.
About the presenter:

Mary-Clare Smith currently works as the Murrumbidgee Local Health District Infection Prevention Clinical Nurse Consultant, covering 31 HealthCare facilities including 2 Base Hospitals and 29 remaining hospitals and multipurpose facilities. The Health district covers a large geographical area with approximately 5,000 staff and a population of approximately 300,000. She is the National Standard 3 Lead, and a large component of her role is educating infection prevention leads at out sites. She successfully completed a Postgraduate in Infection Prevention and Control with Griffith University and is in the process of considering doing some further study in Infectious Diseases and or potentially as a Nurse practitioner in this field.
