ACIPC has released two new guides for managing transmission of pathogens through the air.
Both guides are to be read in conjunction with the ACIPC Position Statement ‘Terminology for pathogens that transmit through the air,’ and recommend the use of hierarchy of controls risk management framework to reduce transmission. The College also recommends that the risk management approach be incorporated into the aged care or health service’s Infection Prevention and Control program.
ACIPC recognises the burden on the health system of infectious diseases, and the emergence of novel infectious diseases also places greater demands on the healthcare workforce. Our new guides aim to mitigate this somewhat by providing a structured approach to identify and manage risks in a health or aged care service.
