Hi everyone,
Does anyone have an opinion on, or what have you been doing about lifts in your buildings?
With the return to work, some commercial buildings have wanted to limit to 2 people per lift – which, in a building holding thousands of people, means it will take up to SIX HOURS to get everyone in to work, and another six hours to get them down again!
Using the fire stairs using some for going up and some for going down can be recommended but in a block 40 stories high with thousands of workers, that’s just not going to work.
My feeling on this is that as long as sick people are at home, and everyone is facing the same way so they wouldn’t accidentally sneeze on each other anyway, it’s just too short a time in the lift for it to be an issue?
What have hospitals been doing? Have you restricted access to lifts at all?
Thanks everyone,
Sarah Bailey MSc, PGDip Med Myc

Hi Sarah,
We do have lift restrictions of 3 people. However, our hospital is not more than 6 stories high, the main entrance is on level three.
Staff mostly use the fire stairs and we have 7 lifts available as well.Kind regards,
