    Hi all,

Ive been asked if it would be acceptable to have a trolley (with a rack on
it for fixing wire baskets) in a high traffic flow area in ED. The baskets
would contain sterile stock with things like syringes, needles, gauze,
dressing packs, IV cannula packs, dressings etc. they want to get rid of
trolleys with drawers and instead have a trolley which is moveable and has
the recommended baskets with their stock in, but is it a problem with it
being in a high flow area, such as next to the fish bowl, outside cubicles
etc. – just from an infection prevention point of view.

They also asked me if its ok to separate packs of syringes, needles etc.
so keeping them in their sterile packaging, but separating them along the
perforation; theyre concerned about micro tears but even if you tear one
off as you use it, surely theres a risk (if any) of a micro tear in the
    one left in the basket?

    Cheers,
    Helen.
