    Hi Glenys

Unfortunately, medical equipment used within a high-risk patient area has a long history of been ignored, even though AS 4187 includes medical equipment and their accessories, very few hospitals in Australia ensure their staff can access the manufacturers instructions ( which include cleaning instructions ) .

Just like devices sent to CSSD , many of these require product-specific cleaning and disinfection processes to not only ensure they cleaned and decontaminated correctly but to make sure they not damaged or that their performance is not affected by the solutions used.

Make sure staff check the manufactures IFU before any over-enthusiastic reactions to avoid expensive repair bills and devices which deteriorate over long periods of time with ongoing intermittent faults.
