    Dear all,

We are looking at implementing hand hygiene auditing which involves a pool of auditors from units external to the area audited, completing the observations.

Does anyone out there in ACIPC land have a protocol for the implementation of this type of Quality Improvement Project that they would be willing to share?

    Kind regards

    Hullo Patricia.

From day one, we (management, auditors and I) decided that our HH Auditors would never audit in a department where they work, and we rotate our HH Auditors through the departments.
The rosters for the auditors are arranged by the Operational Nurse Manager after the department managers tell her which days/hours the HH Auditors are likely to be available.

If you want to use HH Auditors from outside your LHD, there used to be a NSW Health PD – but I don’t know if it’s still current – that requires an LHD to pay for the hours of staff who provide ‘education etc’ in another LHD.

    Regards,
    Marilyn
