    Hello everyone,
We have quite a few split system reverse cycle air conditioning units in our facilities, in both acute and aged care. We are having the coils in these units cleaned. The contractor we have found uses benzalkonium chloride 10g/L.
Dose the chemical solution need to be TGA approved to use in the hospital setting?
Has anyone had any experience with this?
I am also a concerned about the cleaning process, which uses a small hand held gurney to clean the coils in the inside side of the unit. The coils are soaked in the solution and then the gurney is used with the black encasing plastic hood, then drawing the debris into the bottle on the floor. I have blocked out the company, but see picture attached as PDF.

I am keen to have the coils cleaned as what comes out of them is very dirty, and there is a very visible difference between the cleaned and the not cleaned coils (a little scary actually) but obviously need to ensure that we are not containing the whole room in the process!
Thanks in advance for anyone who has advice!

    Kelly
