Hi everyone, quick question about AIR access.
As an authorised person with HPOS/AIR access, do you obtain explicit consent before checking a resident’s immunisation status on AIR or do you treat it as implied consent as part of routine clinical care?
Many residents can’t recall what vaccines they’ve had or when. In some cases, the resident and their NOK can’t remember their myGov password or can’t access the account. Sometimes the previous GP (before the person came into our care) doesn’t respond or it takes a long time to get a reply.
Keen to hear how you handle this:
– Documenting consent (resident vs substitute decision-maker)
– Any organisational policy wording or audit tips you’ve found helpful.
Regards,
Luis
