Topic: Paediatric Infection Prevention and Control: Safety and Quality
This sessions presentation will be led by Professor Marilyn Cruickshank, Director of the Nursing Research Unit at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, past president of ACIPC, and a leading global thinker in paediatric IPC. Professor Cruickshank will explore the topic of paediatric infection prevention and control with respect to healthcare safety and quality, highlighting similarities and differences to adult care. She will outline areas where paediatric systems excel, where they lag, and opportunities for improvement through adaptation and innovation.
Professor Cruickshank will also examine the pandemic’s impact on paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) IPC practices, focusing on practical lessons and innovations while addressing ongoing challenges and opportunities for improvement.
We invite attendees to ask questions and share their own experiences on the topic. We also welcome other paediatric-related issues for discussion.
