2025 Committee Restructure FAQs

Committee Meetings in March

The Board recommended cancelling the March committee meetings due to the scheduled briefing sessions. Some functions will continue as usual until the new committees and panels are formally established:

  • PaCSs – Ongoing review of credentialling applications, supported by the office via Teams as usual.
  • MCEC – Launch of the mentoring program.
  • Scientific Conference Committee – Continued planning of the conference.
  • RGSC – Review of research access scheme requests.

Communication with Current Committee Members

Extensive engagement took place during the development of the strategic plan, including a review of the committee structure. Existing committee members were the first to be informed outside the Board. All committee members were notified simultaneously after the Board finalised its review. The restructure was considered at a facilitated face-to-face Board workshop in November 2024 and formally endorsed at another face-to-face workshop in February 2025. Committee updates followed two weeks later.

Committee Evaluation Survey – December 2024

A committee evaluation survey was distributed in December via meeting agendas and email. Committee members will be asked to complete the survey annually.

Review of Committee Terms of Reference (TORs)

The Board establishes the TORs for committees. Each December, committees may review their TORs and submit recommended amendments to the Board. The Board will then review and finalize any changes in February, with updates communicated back to the committee.

PaCSs – Consideration for Credentialling Assessments

Given the learning curve for assessing credentialling applications, the Board has established a Credentialling & Fellowship Assessment Standing Panel. This will broaden member participation in credentialling assessments and help develop expertise, including mentoring credentialled members to become assessors.

Communication and Interactions Between Committees

While each committee has a distinct purpose and function, there will naturally be areas of overlap and collaboration. The Board believes the formation of sub-committees, working groups, and panels will increase member participation in College activities and facilitate cooperation on shared interests. This may include updating guidelines, drafting position statements, and developing research proposals.

IDH Editorial Board

The IDH editorial board will continue to operate independently, maintaining its editorial autonomy. The reference to IDH under the IPC Science and Research Committee signifies the inclusion of the IDH Editor-in-Chief as a committee member.

Conference Committees

ACIPC International Conference Planning Committee

The ACIPC International Conference Planning Committee will operate under the IPC Science and Research Committee to support the conference program. To facilitate this, the IPC Science and Research Committee to maintain an ongoing list of potential conference speakers. This will include high-profile researchers, IPC practitioners, and notable speakers from international conferences, with priority given to those whom committee members have heard at international events.

Conference Abstract Review Panel

The Conference Abstract Review Panel will formalise the current ad-hoc panel of reviewers. A structured approach will enhance the planning process and ensure consistency in abstract reviews. The panel will consist of reviewers from both clinical settings and research fields, ensuring appropriate allocation of submissions for review.

Members of the Annual Conference Planning Sub-Committee may also nominate themselves as reviewers and participate in the panel. Additionally, the panel will provide guidance on improving the review process each year.

Conference Program Development

The ACIPC International Conference Planning Committee will manage the development of the overall conference program, taking into account invited speaker recommendations, key research projects, and the outcomes of the abstract review process.
