From Plan to Action: WHO Launches Guide to Support National IPC Plans
The World Health Organization (WHO) is launching a new Practical Guide for the Development and Implementation of National Action Plans (NAPs) for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), designed to help countries implement the WHO Global Action Plan and Monitoring Framework for IPC 2024–2030 (GAPMF).
Date: Monday 23 June 2025
Time: 9PM AEST
Online via Zoom
Approved by the World Health Assembly in 2024, the GAPMF sets out clear actions, indicators, and targets to support national and facility-level IPC improvements. Developed through extensive global consultations, it represents a coordinated push to strengthen IPC systems worldwide.
The new guide provides a step-by-step approach for developing and implementing national IPC plans aligned with the GAPMF. It includes case studies, tools, and resources to help countries prioritise, cost, monitor, and evaluate their activities. It was developed in collaboration with national IPC leads, technical experts, and the WHO Global IPC Network.
The launch event, “From Plan to Action: Implementing the WHO GAPMF at the Country Level”, aims to promote the guide’s uptake among IPC professionals, national focal points, planners, and policymakers. Participants will be introduced to key tools, hear inspiring country examples, and engage in networking and peer learning.
Event Objectives:
- Launch and promote the practical guide for implementing the GAPMF.
- Encourage use by national IPC leaders and policymakers.
- Share tools, resources, and real-world success stories.
- Build political commitment to develop aligned national IPC plans.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across regions.
