Hi Camilla,
Guidance on glove fixtures:
Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare (NHMRC/ACSQHC) (2019) The guidelines support dedicated, accessible areas for storing PPE and minimising environmental contamination.
National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines (2024) : https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/2024-08/national-aged-care-design-principles-and-guidelines_0.pdf Specifically recognises the importance of resident privacy, dignity and discreet storage of clinical supplies, including gloves, in ensuites – pg 55.
The Aged Care IPC Guide (2024) Provides the broader framework for risk-based IPC, safe environments and infection prevention in residential aged care. This includes: toring PPE and minimising environmental contamination.
From a personal resident perspective – gloves sitting on a bathroom vanity is not embracing privacy and dignity – storage in the bathroom would be key.
Hope that helps
Regards Carrie
