2026 ACIPC Lecture

2026 ACIPC Lecture Speaker Announced

Each year, the ACIPC Board invites an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of infection prevention and control to present the ACIPC Lecture at our ACIPC International Conference.

On behalf of the board of directors, it gives me great pleasure to announce Associate Professor Andrew Stewardson will present the ACIPC Lecture at our 2026 conference on the Gold Coast.

Associate Professor Stewardson is an Infectious Diseases Physician clinician-researcher, with joint appointment at Monash University and Bayside Health (Alfred Care Group) as Associate Professor and Director, Infection Prevention and Healthcare Epidemiology. He is co-lead for ‘Transmission and Control of AMR in Healthcare’ at the Monash University Centre to Impact AMR. His research focuses on the impact, transmission, and control of healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistance in both high-income and resource-limited settings. Associate Professor Stewardson’s past roles include National Project Manager at Hand Hygiene Australia (2014-2017), Chair of the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases Healthcare Infection Control Special Interest Group (2017-2022) and Editor-in-Chief of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control (2023-2026).

The ACIPC Lecture is scheduled from 1.40 to 2.10pm on Tuesday 10 November 2026 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland.
