In Victoria, the EPA has ruled that any PPE used for COVID patients is general waste unless contaminated with blood or bodily fluids. We take that as unless you were directly coughed on, bled on or otherwise became contaminated through direct contact all you PPE can be discarded in an ordinary bin rather than a yellow one

Hi Team,
Please advise whether the PPE station at the entry point to each ward requires a clinical waste bin to put the used mask/face shield. My view is general waste bin is adequate (refer to the attached guide).
Patients who do not require respiratory-related treatment will be in the general ward (in isolation). Where does the staff (staff who does not enter the isolation room) dispose of their mask/PPE? In the general waste bin or clinical waste bin?
